| A Unique Database on Major Projects
A unique database with information about the performance of major projects is at the center of Bent Flyvbjerg's and his team's research on megaprojects. The database is the largest and richest of its kind and covers several hundred projects in two dozen nations on five continents. The database allows a comprehensive, comparative understanding of major projects, and of their role in city and regional development. Such an understanding is particularly important because development increasingly comes packaged as ever larger megaprojects.
Bent Flyvbjerg and his associates are currently working to expand the database to cover more project types, from transportation and public buildings to energy and water projects to sports stadiums, signature architecture, and more. As part of the effort to expand the database, Bent Flyvbjerg and his team are looking for other researchers who would be interested in sharing data on major projects and possibly in joint studies and publications based on such data. All project types and all countries are of interest.
